Back in the MIA

Posted on 07/13/2008

For those of you who were at the Miami Warped Tour date today, you probably noticed the PlayWork/ ECI stage and tent missing… Unfortunately some our stage equipment was damaged in the rain at St. Petersburg and was put out to dry all day. So, the stage will be back in full force at the Elkton date tomorrow and all should be good.

Though PlayWork and ECI weren’t officially at the show today, I still went and hung out with some friends of mine in Miami since it is my hometown show and got a chance to watch Say Anything’s full set. Max and co. did a really good job of keeping the Miami crowd off their feet and moving while playing a good mix of songs off “… Is A Real Boy” and “In Defense of A Genre”.

Fortunately the heat wasn’t too bad today and it actually rained for a bit while I caught Four Year Strong playing an acoustic set at the myspace tent. I also saw a bit of Forever the Sickest Kids’ acoustic set, but sorry, it was nothing compared to FYS. If you’ve been reading my blog, you know how much of an advocate I am for that band – I’ve made it a point to see Four Year Strong everyday this tour and I have not been disappointed.

Another band I caught today that really surprised me was Evergreen Terrace. It was pretty intense – kids were walking out of the pit with broken lips and bruises – and a band you have to see live to really experience.

One last band I really want to talk about is And Then There Was You. They played the Ernie Ball stage at around 11:45 this morning and did a great job waking up the few people who came to see them. They’re a band from Miami I’ve seen play shows since their started two years ago and have really come a long way. Make sure you check out their myspace.

I didn’t take any photos in Miami today, but I finally got around to setting up a flickr account with the photos from Orlando and St. Pete’s. There isn’t many up since I was stuck with just my 300mm lense, but I got my 35mm now and should be taking a ton of photos.

I’ll be on the tour till July 18th in Detroit, MI, so come say hi!
